Uber Eats is Ubers version of GrubHub, and DoorDash. It allows customers to order food with the press of a button. It’s inexpensive and convenient.

How Does Uber Eats Work For Customers?

Uber Eats like ride-hailing apps pairs users with nearby drivers. However, rather than receiving rides from these drivers, customers receive food at their specified location.​Once a user logs into the app, they can select different food items from the menus of their favorite local restaurants. ​After a user places their order, the selected restaurant will accept the order and begin preparing your food. Then an Uber Eats delivery partner will be dispatched to pick up the order and deliver it to your location.

What Is Eats Pass?

It’s a monthly subscription option for Uber Eats users. For $9.99 per month, subscribers get $0 delivery and 5% off eligible orders over $15. These benefits apply to select restaurants available on the app in the United States and Canada.

How Does Uber Eats Work For Drivers?

1. You will receive an audio notification through the app.
2. Tap the screen to accept the delivery request.
3. Receive info regarding the food order number, pick-up location, and customer name.
4. Tap “navigate”, the GPS will direct you to the restaurant.
5. When you arrive, give the restaurant staff the food order number and customer name.
6. Double check the order before heading back to your car with the take-out packages.
7. Tap “start trip” for directions to the delivery address.
8. Swipe up in the app for special delivery instructions regarding drop-off or parking.
9. The customer will receive a text as you approach so they’re ready for you.
10. Knock or ring the bell if they didn’t request to meet you outside their location.
11. Greet the customer by introducing yourself with a smile and hand them their order.
12. Swipe “complete trip” and you’re done with this delivery!

Pros

• One of the best paying delivery companies.
• Can combine it with promotions for Uber.
• Let’s drivers in most states deliver across state lines.

Cons

• Promotions like quest aren’t available in every city.
• Payment model changes from time to time.

Requirements To Become An Uber Eats Driver

• You need to be at least 19 years old
• Your 2 or 4-door car must be newer than a 1998 model
• Valid driver’s license and car insurance
• In the U.S., you need at least one year of driving experience
• You will need a clean driving record with no major violations dating back 7 years
• Upon applying, you will be required to pass a background check and a safety screening and upload a few required documents.
