So, you’re interested in becoming a driver for GrubHub? Well, here is what you will need in order to be approved to driver.

How Does Grubhub Work?

  • Open the driver app and enable delivery requests
  • Request are pinged to drivers who are closest to the restaurant
    • Note: Scheduling blocks will give you access to priority pings
  • You have up to 30 seconds to decide if you want to accept orders
    • Note: You can deliver individual orders or group orders
  • Pick up the order at the restaurant
  • Dropoff the order at the customer’s location
  • Once the drop off is complete, you will earn money

  • Car
  • Bike
  • Motorcyle
  • Bike

Note: Vehicle requirements vary by city and that you even rent a car for Grubhub.

Requirements To Become A Driver

  • 19 years of age
    • Note: Drivers must be 21 or older in Chicago or Las Vegas
  • Have at least two years driving experience
  • Own an iPhone with iOS 8 or higher, or an Android with 4.0 or higher
  • Have a valid driver’s license, for at least two years
  • Valid registration
  • Valid auto insurance
  • Bikers can provide a government-issued ID
  • Authorize and pass a background check
  • Have a bank account to set up direct deposit to receive the weekly payments or debit card to cash out the earnings

Background And DMV Check

Before you can be approved to drive for Grubhub you will have to pass a Background and DMV check. You cannot become a Grubhub delivery driver if the following this are found.

DMV Record

  • More than 3 moving violations in the previous 3 years, such as:
    • Speeding tickets
    • Accidents
    • Driving without insurance
    • Stoplight violations
  • Any major violations in the previous 3 years, such as:
    • Driving with a suspended license
    • Reckless driving
  • A DUI or any drug related violation in the previous 7 years

Criminal Record

  • Violent crimes
  • Felonies
  • Drug related crimes
  • Sexual offenses
  • theft and property damage convictions
