Lyft is testing alot of new features for riders and drivers

Updated: Jan 25

According to renowned tipster of unreleased features Jane Manchun Wong, Lyft is testing a new features for riders and drivers that will be released on the Lyft app soon.

New features for riders:

Auto-arrive alert when driver is near destination

Will automatically notify riders whenever the driver is near the destination. The feature will show up in the Navigation settings on the Lyft Driver app.

Commute alert for riders

Once this new feature is released it will allow users to set a route within the app, and get traffic alerts for the route. They will also be able to set a recurring alert at any given time during the day using the Repeat and notification time sections.

Voice search for entering the ride destination

This feature will appear as a microphone icon within the search bar. Users will be able to tap on the icon and say the name of a place or an address to enter the destination.

Background location sharing

This feature will be available within the privacy settings and will allow riders to share their location either until drop off or until pickup. To ensure privacy for Lyft riders, the background location will only be shared when riders request a ride. Riders will also be given the option to stop location sharing at any time.

New features for drivers

Notification Preferences

This feature will allow drivers to choose what notifications Lyft send them from the app.

Biometric Lock

This new feature will allow drivers to lock and unlock the app with their fingerprint.

Price Level Indicator

Lyft already has a feature like this that tells drivers the busiest times of the day. However, with this new edition it will also tell drivers how much they could potentially make.

Lyft in app vehicle service scheduling

This feature will allow drive to schedule service on their car through the app with Lyft's drive center and mobile services.

Driver referral mileage bonus

Not really clear how exactly this new bonus will work. We're confused how or why they would give drivers 20% more on every mile a driver they referred drives.

However, it could not even be a referral and just pay drivers 20% more on ever mile they drive to pick up a rider on long pick ups.

What are your thoughts on these new features? Like dislike? Leave a comment below and tell us what you think.
