Uber executives approved a new policy that will take effect in the coming weeks. It will require drivers and riders in the US, and other countries to wear face mask or coverings, a spokesperson told CNN Business.
The company is developing technology that will detect whether drivers, and riders are wearing mask or not. Uber hasn't said how it would work however, they currently do have a feature where they require drivers to selfies to verify their identification. So, it could be similar to that in a way, and require riders to take selfie of them wearing a mask before they can get in the car. Along with have drivers take selfies periodically through the day. They could also give riders and drivers the option the decline the ride if the other isn't wearing a face covering.
