Uber riders can now schedule rides 30 days in advance and select favorite drivers

Updated: Jan 8

Uber is rolling out a new feature called Uber Reserve for riders in over 20 US cities. This new feature will roll out in the app next week and allow riders to schedule trips up to 30 days in advance.

Riders who choose to use this feature will be shown their fare upfront and be matched to a driver ahead of the trip. Uber has also added in the favorite driver option. This option will allow riders to add favorite drivers to their app. Once a rider selects the Reserve feature riders will have the option to select one of their favorite drivers, these favorite drivers will be offered the ride first. However, they have the option to decline the ride, and won't be penalized by Uber if they choose to do so.

Uber also added a 15-minute grace period if a rider is running late, and a on-time guarantee that will give users $50 in Uber Cash if their driver is a minute late to the ride they have scheduled.

The company also added a protection for drivers that will give them the full fare if a rider should cancel a Reserve trip within an hour of the trip.

Uber Reserve will first be available on Uber Black and Black SUV rides, and will become available to other ride options such as Uber X, “comfort” and XL by the end of the year.

Uber Reserve will be available in these Cities Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Charleston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, D.C., Fort-Myers / Naples, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Milwaukee, Nashville, New Jersey, New York City, New Orleans, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Seattle. Uber plans to make this option available to more Cities next year.
